How this policy works
This page explains the site rule that governs this area.
Primary hierarchy
The most relevant official court or Supreme Court/High Court source is preferred first. eCourts is the next central source for district-court case information. India Code, Gazette and government department sources are used for statutory and administrative material.
Current official guidance over inference
If a current official page conflicts with an older document, secondary summary or operational assumption, the current official source controls for the website's explanatory purpose.
Court-specific material
Cause lists, filing rules, practice directions, rosters and notices should come from the court that issued them because those materials can change without a corresponding change on a general portal.
Secondary sources
Secondary material may be used when an official source does not explain a concept adequately, but it should not replace the primary record for a consequential legal or procedural statement.
Links and provenance
Where practical, pages link directly to the official source used for the user's task. A source link should help the reader verify the underlying information rather than merely decorate the page.
Freshness
Dynamic information such as listings, case status, fees, forms, filing instructions and court access information should be treated as time-sensitive and verified close to use.
