Quick answer

For Gurugram District Court, use the national eCourts e-Filing portal for electronic filing where the relevant case category and court establishment are enabled. The Punjab & Haryana High Court's e-filing rules apply to subordinate courts in Haryana and point to the Electronic Filing Rules in Volume V. Before relying on any static instruction, confirm the currently available court, case type and filing route inside the live official portal.

Important: E-filing availability, mandatory categories, document requirements and scrutiny practices can change. The live e-Filing portal, applicable High Court rules and current District Court instructions control.

How Gurugram District Court e-filing works

The eCourts e-Filing system is an official end-to-end platform for filing plaints, written statements, replies and applications before participating High Courts and District Courts. It supports document upload, e-signing, online court-fee payment, filing of applications and case-portfolio management. The platform also distinguishes advocate and litigant registration and allows the filer to select the relevant State, district and court environment.

For Haryana district courts, the Punjab & Haryana High Court has adopted electronic-filing rules for subordinate courts. The High Court's Rules and Orders state that the procedure for subordinate-court e-filing is governed by the Electronic Filing Rules in Volume V, Part J. Those rules apply to online filing as well as designated counters and e-Service Centres for categories notified by the High Court.

What to prepare before starting

ItemWhy it matters
Correct court and districtSelect Haryana and the correct Gurugram court establishment. A filing routed to the wrong establishment can create delay or require correction.
Case category and reliefThe case type determines the filing workflow, required fields and documents. Do not choose a category only because its label appears similar.
Pleadings and annexuresPrepare readable PDF documents, indexes and supporting material in the sequence required by the applicable rules or court instruction.
Vakalatnama or authority documentWhere counsel files, the authority document must match the party and proceeding. The platform also supports online submission of vakalat.
Affidavit and signaturesCheck whether the filing requires an affidavit, e-signature, digital signature or later production of an original signed document.
Court feeIdentify the correct fee basis and payment method. The portal supports online payment where integrated with the relevant State treasury/payment system.

Registration and court selection

The official portal provides separate registration paths for advocates, litigants and clerks. Advocate registration asks for Bar registration details, while a litigant account uses personal and contact information. The registration form also asks the user to identify the place of litigation by court type, State and district. For a Gurgaon/Gurugram District Court matter, verify that the selected district and establishment correspond to the actual court where the proceeding belongs.

A successful account registration does not by itself establish that every type of case can presently be e-filed in every court. After logging in, confirm that the intended Gurugram establishment and case category are available in the live workflow.

Typical e-filing sequence

  1. Register or sign in on the official eCourts e-Filing portal.
  2. Select the correct court environment, including Haryana, Gurugram and the relevant establishment where prompted.
  3. Enter case data carefully, using the names, addresses, case category, relief and other fields required by the portal.
  4. Upload pleadings and documents in the prescribed electronic format and logical sequence.
  5. Complete signatures or e-signing where the workflow requires them.
  6. Pay the applicable court fee through the official payment route when enabled.
  7. Submit and preserve the filing acknowledgement or filing number generated by the system.
  8. Check scrutiny or objection status after submission. An uploaded filing may still require Registry scrutiny and correction of defects.

Which e-filing rules apply?

The Punjab & Haryana High Court's Rules and Orders contain specific electronic-filing provisions for subordinate courts in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Volume I, Chapter 1 Part Q and Volume III, Chapter 1 Part BC direct subordinate-court users to the Electronic Filing Rules in Volume V, Chapter 1 Part J. Those rules define e-filing broadly and expressly include District Courts under the High Court's supervisory jurisdiction.

This matters because the national portal is the technical filing interface, while the governing High Court rules and any current District Court directions determine procedural requirements. A filer should therefore check both layers rather than assuming that a successful upload equals procedural acceptance.

What happens after submission?

Electronic submission is followed by court-side scrutiny. Depending on the filing, the Registry or designated court staff may identify defects, request correction, accept the filing for registration, or require an additional procedural step. Preserve the acknowledgement, monitor the dashboard, and respond to any officially recorded objection within the applicable period.

Do not treat a portal upload timestamp, payment confirmation or generated acknowledgement as proof that the proceeding has been registered and assigned a regular case number. Registration is a separate procedural event that should be verified in the official filing or case-status record.

Common problems and safer responses

The Gurugram court or case category is not visible

Do not force the filing into a different category. Recheck the selected State, district and establishment, then confirm current e-filing availability from the court or applicable High Court direction.

The document uploads but is rejected at scrutiny

Technical upload and procedural compliance are different. Read the stated defect carefully, compare it with the governing rules and correct the document rather than simply uploading the same file again.

The filing fee appears uncertain

Use the court-fee framework applicable to the proceeding and verify the current payment route. See the site's Court Fees guide for source routing, but rely on the official court/treasury source for the amount payable in the actual matter.

An original signed document may still be required

The e-filing rules contemplate electronic filing but particular directions can require original documents or other physical compliance. Check the current instruction for the case category instead of assuming that a scanned copy permanently replaces every original.

Two practical checks that reduce filing errors

First, separate technical completion from procedural acceptance. A filer can finish the portal workflow yet still face scrutiny objections. Treat the filing acknowledgement as evidence of submission, not final acceptance.

Second, verify the court entity before the document set. The same document can be correctly prepared yet incorrectly routed if the filer selected the wrong district, establishment or case category. Court selection should therefore be checked before uploading a large record.
